Compression

Lossy

Lossy compression is a form a compressing files in a way that loses data as it compresses. It is designed to minimise the amount of essential data that needs to be held.

Lossless

Lossless compression uses algorithms that allows the original data to be recreated from the data that is compressed.

Pixel

Picture Element


A pixel, which is short for Pixel Element, is a single point or part on an image. A screen will display images by
dividing the screen into lots of pixels,  in rows and columns close together so that they make up the display.

Image resolution


The term resolution is used for amount of pixels or pixel count that make up a display, the higher the number of pixels means the better quality of image.




Intensity


Intensity is the amount of pixels you have stacked, the higher number of pixels, the higher the intensity
